Dear World,

Please understand that my self-worth is not up for negotiation and that also applies to my self-esteem. My self-awareness is non-negotiable. My cultural tolerance cannot be bartered for. My “natural look” is not up for debate and my “talking black” is not up for discussion.  

The Zero Negotiation statement is all about the idea of being unapologetically self-aware. So often, when trying to accomplish life’s goals, we feel an obligation to compromise who we are to make others around us feel “comfortable.” If, by helping others feel comfortable, we are forced to discount our own self-value, then what have we truly accomplished?  At EBWS we reject the idea of giving a discount on our person. There is no compromising on my aspirations and beliefs. My moral compass cannot be swayed off-kilter. For my old heads out there, I say in my Popeye voice, “I am what I am, and that’s all that I am. ” In truth, our existence is not for sale. We are perfectly imperfect, and we revere the fact that the black experience, contrary to popular belief, has a history littered with moments of dedication, perseverance, and resilience. It is these stories that allow us to have more confidence and swag than most, even in the face of adversity.

Simply put…… I WILL NOT NEGOTIATE MY SELF-WORTH.
